About me - Rachel (she/her)
I work with adults, teens, and couples. I provide affirming support for clients of all identities, and particularly love working with LGBTQIA+, trans & GNC, and neurodivergent folks, as well as people with disabilities and chronic health conditions.
I became a psychotherapist in midlife, after prior careers as a social justice activist and an attorney. I have deep empathy for clients who are navigating the complexities of demanding jobs, parenting, midlife transitions, and career changes.
I have a compassionate and grounded presence, and I bring humor and warmth to hard conversations.

How I work
My approach to therapy is humanistic and psychodynamic. That means that I believe every person has unique strengths and inherent value, and that our daily struggles have deep roots in our past experiences. I bring an inclusive feminist lens to my work, and I use a variety of techniques, including somatics, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
If we work together, we can explore how your experiences impact you as a whole person – body, heart, and mind. My approach is trauma-informed and client-centered, so we will slow down and go at a pace that works for you.
Please contact me to schedule a free, 20-minute phone consultation, so that we can see if we are a good fit.
Policies & fees
I offer in-person sessions in Lafayette, CA, and online sessions for clients throughout California.
Fees: $160 per 50-minute session.
Sliding scale: I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available for those unable to afford the full fee.
Super bills: I do not accept insurance, but I am happy to provide a super bill upon request.
Good faith estimate: Under the law, health care providers must give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare, including psychotherapy. You can ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
